Apprentice Marine Technician

We are on the search for an enthusiastic, driven, team playing, boating apprentice! If you are not interested in boating or mechanical things, this is NOT the job for you!

A Marine apprentice opportunity has come up in our workshop, working with 2 mechanics in a family run business.

 

Work includes but not limited to-
General trade assistant to other mechanics
Cleaning of workshop and general duties instructed by Lead Mechanics
Collecting parts including using parts catalogue to search part numbers
Servicing of engines- supervised with mechanic
Cleaning and degreasing boats

Jobs increasing as knowledge grows which will include:

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of marine systems and components, including engines, electrical systems, and navigation equipment.
  • Collaborate with senior technicians to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues, employing problem-solving skills to find effective solutions.
  • Learn to perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to ensure vessels are operating at optimal levels.
  • Gain practical knowledge of safety protocols and procedures related to marine technology and workshop operations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules.

Requirements-

  • Motor vehicle driver’s licence C class.
  • Enthusiasm for marine technology and a strong desire to learn and grow in the field.
  • Basic mechanical and electrical aptitude is preferred.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Willingness to follow instructions and learn from experienced technicians.
  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including lifting and carrying heavy equipment.
  • Full time position may include some Saturday mornings.

 

The marine apprenticeship includes block training in Perth twice a year.
